Glide is home of the "Colliding Rivers" where the North Umpqua River and Little River meet head on and collide to provide a spectacular merging of waters in Glide, Oregon. This is the only place in the world this geological phenomenon occurs. Glide, Oregon is a year round destination and is centrally located for visiting throughout the southwestern part of the Oregon. In a little over an hour you can be on the Oregon coast walking the beach or admiring the depthless wonders of Crater Lake. Or perhaps you would like to visit one of the many wineries found throughout the Umpqua, Rogue and Applegate Valleys. Throughout our area and along Highway 138 leading to Diamond and Crater Lake you will find many hiking trails, mountain bike trails and over 16 waterfalls. Little River Road provides access to 6 waterfalls and the Cavitt Creek Covered Bridge. The drive along the Rogue-North Umpqua Scenic Byway is breathtakingly beautiful, particularly the area starting at Glide and to the headwaters of the Rogue River. Pull off the road at one of the many marked trails and take a pleasant hike to view a waterfall or just enjoy one of the beautiful views at on of the many pull-outs along the way. You will find several campgrounds where you can have a nice picnic lunch or perhaps camp overnight. Enjoy a pleasant walk on one of the many hiking trails, some of which end up at one of our spectacular waterfalls. Many winter sports are available in the Cascades, Diamond Lake offers snowmobiling, snow cat rides and cross-country skiing, Crater Lake is open year-round and also offers snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.
